When mulching we start off buy doing a thorough bed clean out to make sure it is free of leaves and debris. Next we edge the beds to give a defined clean looking edge which also helps to keep the mulch where its intended to go. Before just laying down the mulch this is a great time to take weed prevention methods. Spreading a product such as preen weed preventer on the ground before mulching will help ensure your mulch looks good and will fight of weeds for the following months.

Next we finally move to spreading the mulch where there are several techniques for this. The thing that needs to be focused on the most is the amount you apply to certain areas. you don’t want to much or to little. I see time and time again people over doing the mulch around tree bases which is bad. Mulch being piled high on a tree can cause for to much moisture and rot the base of the tree eventually killing it. Some areas may have plenty of mulch so a light coating will be fine. other Areas may be bare and need a little extra. Applying mulch properly will help ensure that the yard look great but also not waste mulch in areas where not needed in return saving the client money$$$.

When a mulch job is finished you cant help but feel happy with the look. Visually this makes a yard more appealing by showing defined edges making land scape and well manicured lawn pop.
